Values, Objectives, Indicators, and Targets (VOITs) are a Forest Management Plan (FMP) component that detail how forest values will be addressed, and provide performance standards against which the Companies' actions are monitored over time. Each FMP usually contains 25-35 VOITs. Each one consists of an important value, a more specific objective, an indicator to base success on, and a target to achieve. Values range from amount and type of forest cover, to watercourse and erosion protection, to implementation of public involvement plans. Below is an example:

Value: Water quantity

Objective: Limit impact of harvesting on water yield

Indicator: Forecasted changes in water yields for the management area resulting from the approved SHS

Target: To develop a SHS where the predicted increase in water yield is < 15% in the majority of watersheds
