NEWS - Consultation Update
Indigenous consultation for the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Forest Management Plan has progressed to the VOIT stage (Values-Objectives-Indicators-Targets). VOITs are performance indicators designed to manage for values by setting targets in the forest management plan and reporting on progress in achieving those targets. VOITs provide harvest planning direction to meet targets for water, wildlife, vegetation, and more. All communities have received the draft VOITs and as the companies meet with them to work through the implications of each, communities are providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Following the VOITs, the next consultation stage will be the Spatial Harvest Sequence (proposed eligible harvesting locations for the next 20 years) and will begin in approximately June 2019.
